Norbert Mészáros (Hungarian pronunciation: [ˈnorbɛrt ˈmeːsaːroʃ]; born 19 August 1980 in Pápa) is a Hungarian football (Centre Back) player. He is usually fielded as central defender.
Mészáros started playing football with his local team Pápai ELC. In 2000, his career took off when he signed for to Dunaújváros FC. Other teams he played for include BKV Előre, BFC Siófok and the German team FC Energie Cottbus. Since 2005, Mészáros is attached to Borsodi Liga side Debreceni VSC. With Debrecen, he has won twice the league (2006, 2007), once the cup (2008) and twice the Super Cup (2006, 2007).
On 8 September 2010 he was suspended by UEFA along with team-mate Vukasin Poleksic, as a match in 2009–10 UEFA Champions League was manipulated. Both players appealed. On 5 May 2011 the Court of Arbitration for Sport announced its decision, which the ban of Poleksic was upheld and annulled the ban of Mészáros.[1]
